Is there any way to replace the wood panel on the center console that comes in the luxury package? My build unfortunately did not come with that but I really prefer the matte wood look, was curious if I could purchase that part and easily swap it.

I read in another forum that the wooden surface is integrated in the function center where the gear selector, volume button, the crystal wheel and so on are located. Sounds pricey and also that it contains control units that needs to be programmed. So no easy swap.

I imagine that entire unit can be swapped for the one in the luxury package without issue. Just need to have service do the transplant.

Had a deeper look into things and the left part where the gear selector is located is a separate device screwed on to the right part, the "Controller" that has the wooden surface. To unscrew the both is very simple, just a few minutes of work. The Controller is however a ECU and need to be programmed.

I am so sorry if I wasn't clear enough. What I mean is, did you check with your dealer so you can have something from BMW itself, or you are looking for some third-party vendor?

It's highly doubtful that there is a third-party replacement for that section of the car given how new it is.... furthermore I wouldn't replace it with anything but OEM stuff given the complexity of the electronics of this car..IMHO

I really hope this is a possibility. Due to the reshuffling of the 2023 packages, I was forced to take the wood/crystals in order to get the other options I wanted, although I vastly prefer the piano black console and solid seat controls. I would exchange with someone in a heartbeat if technically possible.

My iX 50 is with piano black console. But I like the wood/crystal more, maybe we can switch?
