Has anyone tried YouTube airplay after updating to IOS 26? I tried many times. Only one time I was able to see the YouTube screen on the IX center console but it would not play.

The user experience of trying to stream high-quality video over the CarPlay connection may not work well, so I don’t think Apple would be on board nor do they at least seem to care about implementing much for features anymore these days, other than transparent icons that remind me of osx from 2001 🫣

The Carplay connection uses wifi. I would think that would have sufficient bandwidth. As far as the cellular is concerned, that just uses your normal data plan. I would add that if Apple implemented video streaming via Carplay, it would be a killer feature that would make Carplay much more popular. I'm not sure why Apple is being daft here.

It is not a bug. It is a new feature of IOS 26 and CarPlay. There are videos posted from users that were on the Beta program. I tried and one time it started to give me the YouTube screen on the console, but it was frozen. I have reached out to "Geniousland" to see what they say.

From what I can tell, I don't think this functionality has been enabled yet. Even though iOS 26 technically now supports it, there is still some extra work that needs to be done by the various app makers and BWM in order to enable it. So maybe check in again in a few weeks once you see some Youtube videos of reviewers online who have been able to make it work.

If BMW has to do some work not sure if we will see it 😬
Agree. If this requires any work on BMW's part it's not going to happen.
