Dear Community,

I just got my BMW iX 40 yesterday and to my surprise the myBMW App does not work and I am also unable to send a Google map location pin from my Android phone to the BMW iDrive system. Apparently, this can only be done via the myBMW App.

Would love to hear from any expert here.

Thanks.

The message I am getting on the myBMW App when I click on "Connect Car" is the car is not supported and to conbect via USB or Bluetooth which is a bit weird. The App eventually gets connected via Bluetooth but I can't do anything. The dealer here has no clue what I am talking about! I am not sure if something needs to be done on the car OS to get it to work.

Someone on this forum I think was trying to get their app to work, and it turned out the dealership was still listed as owning the car. You might check that everything is good on the dealership end, and that you are in fact listed as the owner. That being solved, the next step might be to uninstall the app, then reinstall. Current version on my Android phone (Samsung S22 Ultra) is 3.3.1. You can also delete your profile in the car, then re-add it (be sure your key is previously synchronized with the server so you retain all your settings). Probably last step would be to reset all the data in the car, which will require redoing at least some of the settings. Can you log onto MyBMW/MyGarage on your computer and see your car there?

All that said, there should be a Genius at your dealership who should help you get your car connected and make sure everything works. There is also a Genius contact line listed in the app, which I have found less useful than the dealership route. But it's ultimately BMW's responsibility to ensure that your car and app are working together and that they can connect, if for nothing else than to ensure that your charging functions work. The app is much more important with the iX than it was with previous ICE models, and if your dealer is clueless you might want to look for another dealer.
