Got confirmation that my Msport 50 is in the UK distribution depot and should be with my dealer later this week / early next - ready for a Christmas collection.
Looks like this will be one of the first 50’s to make it to UK - I am also amazed how easy 40’s are to get hold of (autotrader would suggest there are several for sale which are ready for immediate delivery) yet 50’s are on long lead times. I guess most people who want one do want one that has a good range - the longest on the market today.
Getting excited now for the car - haven’t even test driven the local 40 at the dealer - decided I would wait and experience mine. Hope it’s as good as they all say.

What had you been told before that? Had you been expecting it much sooner?
did they give you any explanation?
Did you really order yours in October and will be getting pre-Christmas!? That’s great!
Up until yesterday they have been telling me that it would be Dec/Jan. Only explanation is “all cars are hard to get hold of at moment”. Dealer has been terrible throughout though so don’t believe much they say.
wow, that’s quite a delay - from Jan to July. I think I was right place right time. When I first placed my order in October I was told April, then next thing I knew I was told December - so I can only think either someone cancelled or they got an extra allocation and I was number 2.
Very jealous but that’s great, nice Christmas present!

I had contact with my dealership. They informed me that BMW Belux informed them that they "HOPE" to be manufacturing my car next year... I replied with the question "So it is perfectly possible my car will be ony ready end of next year"... Their reply: "yes it can be..." on my order the delivery date is set on June, so will see how everything will be evolving the coming weeks...

When did you (pre)order yours? I did in july of this year with"delivery date set" in june, but now I have not been assigned a production slot yet... (it seems UK is one of the 1st in line to get delivered
) Good for you of course!My car has now arrived at the dealer (Msport 50) and picking up Monday!! I think I have been very fortunate on timings. Dealer was saying today that any current order would only likely be available next October / November - so along the lines of a 11 month lead time!!
Hi, it has taken 2 weeks from Port of Exit to get to my dealer in the UK - so should just arrive by week 52!!

I know that ix50 was not yet in the planning when I ordered my ix40. I don't know why. Because of the larger battery? Because with the same battery manufactory they can make 3 ix40 in stead of 2 ix50? Will this help to the European CO2 quota ?Hans,

Well I've been extremely lucky (I think) down in Australia.. Ordered my ix xDrive40 only at beginning of December - was told probably will take until May/June '22 to arrive.
Then I received a suprise call last week from my dealer and said 'how would you like it in 2 weeks instead?' - it seems an order must have been cancelled and they had one almost same specs(?).
So anyhow if all goes to plan I will have it the day before Xmas, however as they are doing the tinted windows at the dealer (after market) there's a very small chance that might slip to following week. Anyhow it will be a great Xmas present, only small downside was I had mad rush to get my home EV charger installed well ahead of time.

Strange indeed. In the UK they are delvering the 50 versions already so I believe the "Belgian market" is not big enough for BMW so we have to wait down the queue..
Thought I’d update on the last few days of order saga…dealer continued to be very vague about when my May pre-order actually went in but confirmed my July delivery would be the first 50 they deliver! They then found 2 50’s I could have next week but both with no tow bar which I need for bike carrier and you can’t retrofit to the iX. I’ve cancelled my order with them but they are actually going to keep it allocated to me until I get another one in case it comes early as a good faith offer. No idea what really happened but good on them for trying to put it right at least.
I did find a dealer with 1 March slot for a demonstrator which they were willing to turn into an order for me. So not quite such a delay as was preparing myself for (although price has gone up since last May!)

Nice to hear. My iX40 will be made this week. I ordered by the beginning of October. iX50 was only available by the end of the year in October.
Hopefully we can hear your impressions soon.
