I'm getting similar figures but with a combination of motorway and A roads (think the best I had was 271). Had mine for 3 weeks and driven 1600 miles with an average of 3.2 kw/mile from new. Getting more range than expected so battery definitely likes mild/warm weather so I'm expecting this to drop around 20% in the winter. I find that the range prediction on navigated routes is quite pessimistic (which is not a bad thing) and quite often end up with 20+ more miles left on longer journeys. Not sure if BMW navigation takes into account the weather temperature or not.
As a bonus I've recently moved onto an EV tariff with Octopus Energy with 5 hours per night of cheap electric. My wife and I both have electric cars a so a real no brainer. Majority of my IX40 miles are costing less than 3 pence per mile vs 30 pence per mile on my previous X5 at current fuel prices!!

 

I've done about 1200 miles in a couple of weeks but only hit 2.9ml/Kwh so far, looks like 271 is the number to try to beat.

 

So I've just done a long motorway trip from NW England to Norwich, approx. 500 miles covered there and back. My BMW app shows me with 261 range after driving nice carefully on a long road trip. Can anybody beat that?

How did you find public charging? Did you have to queue at all or have any issues with chargers? Did you use the bmw charging card? Are there charging providers that cannot be accessed using it?

 

Hey MaverIk. The first time using a fast charger with each different provider is always a bit tense. I used Ionity at Cambridge Express services on the A14 twice this week. Really good and very fast 120 or 150Kw I think. I used the Ionity app to do this and it uses geopos on your phone to know that you are there and you then scan the QR code of the charger unit you are using. Really straight forward and I found that there was availability both times I went with at least 3-4/6 chargers available each time. I only realised afterwards that I could probably have used the BMW app to get a better rate as I have promotion with that with my car, so I probably paid over the odds. (promotion is with Ionity and BP, do we all get that?).

My first time out on motorways was a bit hit a miss with a charger at Leicester Forest East services (Grid Serve) not accepting my credit card for some reason or a debit card. I ended up at a McDonald's in Leicester using InstaVolt 50Kw and got about 19Kwh in 25 minutes, which was enough to top up to go back to the North West. I did stop at Fosse Park in Leicester but they were all in use, so using an app that tells you if they are available is useful.

With a home charger and reasonable range, I suspect that I'll only really use fast chargers while I'm on a longer journey so on motorway network - and so far my experience is pretty positive. If I need to go to the shops, I'll probably not need to charge. Driving a bit slower to conserve power and stopping on a long journey to recharge is actually pretty civilised. I regularly go up to Scotland so stopping at Tebay services for 30-60 mins is never going to be a chore.

I'm using Zap-map mostly to find chargers but haven't settled on the best way to do my trip planning yet. The BMW app might be ok, not sure.

 

Our mileage split is approx 80% A road/20% motorway which helps. I use adaptive regen which is brill. Cant get on with B mode high regen - braking too aggresive and prefer to coast.

 

I have about 1000km done and that is about the range I have been able to get with mostly city driving. Considering that I will charge when about 25% and up till 85%, the real world range for me is about 60% and that works out to be about 250km in-between each charge.
