I also ordered (iX40) at the beginning of Oct, mine is also being built this week. Dealer is expecting delivery to the UK towards the end of Feb. The date they have given me for collection is 4th March.

Wow looking great. 4 weeks from assembly to "delivery" to the UK (with the Channel in between ;)) Hope to Belgium delivery process is shorter ;)

Well I've been extremely lucky (I think) down in Australia.. Ordered my ix xDrive40 only at beginning of December - was told probably will take until May/June '22 to arrive.
Then I received a suprise call last week from my dealer and said 'how would you like it in 2 weeks instead?' - it seems an order must have been cancelled and they had one almost same specs(?).
So anyhow if all goes to plan I will have it the day before Xmas, however as they are doing the tinted windows at the dealer (after market) there's a very small chance that might slip to following week. Anyhow it will be a great Xmas present, only small downside was I had mad rush to get my home EV charger installed well ahead of time.
how did you end up with your order? Which state are you in? Was it a demo car, brand new in stock or order to build?
I m in SA, and no way you get your hand on ix 50 sooner than mid year. I put my order 8 of Jan, but not even a build date yet!!

hi Saman. I have (pre)ordered start of August last year and dealership. Before signing my (pre)order dealership told me delivery would be march. At date of signing it was already june 22... So it concerns a newly built car. Now I believe that delivery will take place april. So i will have been waiting approx 9 months for my car . I see now that -if you order an IX 50 now, in belgium you can wait for 15 months !! . Good luck with your order ;)

hi Hans, Great to hear! (for my X5 Hybrid 45e - built in US- I had to wait for more than 8 (!) weeks before it arrived in Belgium after assembly...
So 2 Ă  3 weeks looks perfect! :)
The iX is made near Munchen. That makes the difference.
I received this week the news that the car will be assembled next week.

Thanks for your response.
I gather that all of pre-orders been finalised by November, and at least no one in Australia been able to have them in 2021.
When I signed the contract, I was told I would have it by July, but less than a month after that, those are signing the contract, been advised not sooner than 2023 built!!

I placed my order on 17 Jan and also haven’t have a build date yet. Was told the delivery will be in August. I am from Sydney.

What did you order, 40 or 50?
I m thinking that the sales agents trying to throw some dates, although they have no idea about its date, as there is no allocations, or anything in their pipeline, so to get us sign the contract.

I think you are right. When i spoke to BMW Australia directly, was told that iX50 deliver the earliest is in early 2023. But some dealers may have pre-order as some of them told me their build date is in July 2022. I hope they are right but not holding my breathe. I ordered iX50.

I believe BMW Australia is more reliable than the dealers. My dealer said BMW AU, would allocate IXs just to the signed contracts only so no previously allocated ones. I reckon we would not have them this year, but hopefully we get a date at least. We may have to wait till next April for it.
Come over to Whirlpool forum.

As far as I know, these cars are produced in less than 24 hours completely. Why it is taking 2 weeks for the status level change? Maybe waiting for some parts?

I believe 150 is status set around 2 weeks before real production. when 150 set no more change is allowed and BMW take care pre-production planning, etc. 151 then body work and painting happen within around day or two then final assembly few hours and rest is quality check and out from factory

Correct. When status 150 have been reached a chassis is ready and VIN is created. My car takes 2 weeks between status 150 and 155 (car is ready).

Where do you find the numerical status? My car is in a scheduled for production status but I don’t see a number associated with that status.
your dealer can see and provide. But in US you guys have better visibility through bmwusa site you can follow production progress (it won't tell the status code perhaps) below codes I copy pasted from another BMW forum I assume it is accurate.
